Firhouse Community College provides many opportunities for our students to develop leadership and mentoring skills, and recognises the important role that senior students play in the growth and development of the school. Prefects are key representatives of the student body in our school, acting as leaders and role models for the younger students.

Goals:

  1. That each prefect will have an opportunity to organise differents events in fields they are interested in.

Prefect Duties
Some of the main duties of our prefects include:
Act as a responsible mentor to first year students.
Promote the correct values and standards of behaviour.
Encourage positive behaviour at all times.
Report any issues to the Tutor/Year Head.
Act as a friend/buddy for those who need support.
Assist with lockers before school.
Be present in the Hall for break time, talk to students and be mindful of anyone sitting on their own.
Assist in the organising of and participate in the activities listed in the First-Year Well-being Calendar.
Carry out other tasks and jobs as may be directed from time to time by staff.

Expectations of Prefects:

Respect the school’s Code of Positive Behaviour and observe the school rules at all times.
Wear the correct uniform at all times. Prefects must wear their badge that distinguishes them.
Be punctual for duties and attend all Prefect meetings where possible.
Be positive and enthusiastic.
Be cooperative, helpful, well-mannered, trustworthy, and responsible.
Be respectful toward teachers, your peers, and the school environment.
Display leadership qualities: confidence, initiative, problem solving skills.
Prefects will attend all school events and activities when required where possible, and will be expected to help.
Prefects must be excellent ambassadors for the school, representing the school image positively.
Prefects will help raise expectations and behaviour throughout the school day, including before school and at break time.
