The Junior Certificate Schools Programme is a national Department of Education and Science Programme within the Junior Certificate aimed at students who may leave school early. It sets out to ensure that each individual student in the Programme experiences success and progression and to make the experience of school relevant and accessible to those young people who find it difficult to cope with the school system.
Firhouse Community College Staff Handbook 21 Students experience success by completing learning targets. These learning targets are specific short-term goals which combined, lead to the successful completion of a statement. A statement describes an area of knowledge, a concept or a skill. It states that a student knows, understands or can do something e.g.”The student can carry out a simple research project and display the results appropriately”. The JCSP teaching team meet regularly to profile the progress of each student.
The co-ordinator of the Programme is Yvonne McDonald
